[I wrote this Farewell Poem for a church sister when she recently relocated back to her home state]
Just a few heartfelt words from me
To say, “So long to you, my friend”
As you bid farewell to all of us
And return home where it all began
Good old mountainous Pennsylvania
With historic museums and Victorian homes
Your place of birth and childhood days
It was only five short years ago
When you first visited Faith
I called you on the phone to say
"Thank you for worshiping with us”
You told me then quite frankly
You were looking for a church
With traditional worship services
You found Faith spiritually fulfilling
And quickly became an active member
Serving faithfully on various ministries
You also attended Pastor’s Bible classes
Never shy to ask pertinent questions
You’ll remember the Bethel Bible Series
And your time as a Secret Sister
As you get settled in your new home
May you always have a sturdy roof
To shelter you from th sun and rain
And laughtr to cheer you up
With loved ones forever near you
Giving you comfort, joy and peace
So, goodbye, good luck and a fond farewell
And than you ever so much
For your dedicated service to the Church
We'll miss you and hope you'll keep in touch
And whenever you return for a visit
We hope you'll stop by the Church
And worship with us as you've done before
As you plan your course of action each day
May God guide you in your steps
And may you live each precious day
In the uninterrupted awareness
Of God's presence in your life
The flowers you planted here at Faith
Will always bloom in remembrance of you
The flowers you planted here at Faith
Will always bloom in remembrance of you
