            The hardest part of friendship is to say goodbye and watch a dear friend and colleague move away to a distant place.

            As you leave the warmth and sunshine of Florida and head for the chills of New York, we want you to know and never forget that we will surely miss you.

            For many years, you have been an essential part of our Caribbean Culture Club. Your dedicated service as Secretary to the Club was served with humbled distinction.  And when, unfortunately, you resigned the position a few years ago, due to failing health, you left a deep void to be filled.

            Adding to your designated duty, you served the Club in so many other ways, above and beyond the call of duty.  For many years, you organized the Club’s yearly Sea Escape trips and the quarterly birthday celebrations, where we joyfully dined in comfy restaurants. For our monthly meetings, you voluntarily prepared the refreshments, delighting us all with your sumptuous coconut bread. You were always the first to show-up at our games night where you played a mean hand of dominos and, without batting an eye, often beat us at pokeno.  And as an active member of the Club’s Food Committee, you collaborated with teammates in selecting the menu and providing the delicious cuisine.  You could always be relied upon to be one of the few members to sell a lion share of tickets for our Club’s fundraising events.  And to top it off, on events night, you took an early seat at the door, still selling tickets. Yes, you were always ready, willing and capable to participate in any and all Club activities.  And that, dear friend, underscore your loyalty and dedication!

            But now, reluctantly, we are saying goodbye, because at this time, you’ve decided to relocate to New York to be near your loving family.  We’ve been fortunate to have you, a special person, we care about so much, that saying “goodbye” saddens us considerably.  However, goodbye is not the end; it simply means that we will miss you very much and will think of you very fondly, remembering the fun-loving times we shared together.

            So, as you take up residency in New York, embrace the future with open arms, make fantastic new friends, stay healthy and give God thanks as you live and enjoy each day to its fullest.

            And keep in mind, no distance is far enough to make us forget you, your friendly smile and who and what you’ve been to us for such a long time.
