Nurturing The Spirit

[On Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 9, 2004, I gave the following presentation at my former church in Rockaway Beach, New York:]

Good morning! As a member of this awesome church, it is my privilege to be a part of today’s sermon. On this Mother’s Day/Women’s Day, with enormous pride, as a mother and grandmother, humbly I stand at this altar, before this glorious gathering and share my thoughts with you on Nurturing the Spirit.

Galatians 5 verse 22 states that the fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, hope, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness and faith. These are the fruits that have nurtured the Spirit to a life of infinite well-being.

The Spirit is a vital force within us that thrives on many emotions that have to be constantly nurtured. When we feel downhearted, it is the Spirit that gives us the emotional strength that lifts our minds and souls, and makes us feel alive and strong.

The Spirit requires constant nurturing by implementing:

* The Love we share with one another
* The Joy we feel when spiritually fulfilled
* The Peace we have when we are content
* The Hope we cling to – to make things better
* The Long-Suffering we sometimes endure to the end
* The Gentleness we employ to be free from severity
* The Goodness within us that is of vital importance
* The Faith we hold steadfast for continued blessings

If these thresholds are not fully met, then the Spirit will be denied of the nurturing it needs to strengthen the soul that is essential for clarity in the reverence of God and all things magnificent.

With these embolden principles, let us continue Nurturing the Spirit to withstand life’s challenging journey. We should be mindful that if the Spirit is not nurtured it will, by all accounts, wither and die and, as a result, we suffer the consequences. Think about a life that is without a Nurturing Spirit that we rely on, continuously, to be our guiding force.

Give God the glory for granting us the fruits inherent for Nurturing the Spirit each and every moment of our blessed lives.

Thank you for your indulgence by affording me the privilege of sharing my thoughts with you today, on Nurturing the Spirit. So, in the spirit of our daily lives, let Nurturing the Spirit continue to be our guiding force.

And to all you marvelous Mothers and Grandmothers, may I wish you a Happy and Blessed Mother’s Day.
